Steam Spa Sauna Usage
Using our Steam / Spa / Sauna Facilities.
Whether you're a casual visitor to Ascot Vale Leisure Centre (AVLC) or a MOVE member, we have some guidance around accessing and utilising our Steam / Spa / Sauna areas that everybody should be aware of.
Access is for persons aged 16yrs and older.
Our Steam / Spa / Sauna facilities are not safe environments for children, which is why access to these areas is limited to persons aged 16yrs and over. No exceptions. If you do happen to see anybody under age in these areas, please inform the Duty Manager.
Valid wristbands required.
Every patron using our Steam / Spa / Sauna facilities needs to make sure that they always have a valid wristband. This includes MOVE members. Wristbands need to be obtained from Reception. If you don't have a wristband, or refuse to show our staff when asked, you will be asked to leave the area.
Always use a towel/kickboard.
When accessing our Steam / Sauna rooms, we require everybody to sit on a towel/kickboard for hygiene purposes. Please ensure that you bring a towel/kickboard with you. If you don't have a towel/kickboard, we have some available at reception that can be purchased.
It is not the responsibility of the centre to provide towels or kickboards, as the provision of any such item would require continuous management and cleaning. This is not the core function, role or best use of the team’s time in the poolhall, hence why they are not provided by the centre.
No laying down.
It's extremely important to ensure that nobody spends their time laying down or standing for prolonged periods of time in the Steam / Sauna rooms. Due to the extreme heat in these areas, laying down or prolonged standing increases the risk to personal safety and the potential for fainting. Please stay seated in these areas.
We also encourage patrons to stay hydrated by increasing their water consumption whilst using these facilities. If at any time you start feeling light-headed, dizzy or nauseous, please exit the room immediately and alert a member of our team.
No Oils or Water on the Sauna Elements.
Under no circumstances are any oils, water or any other liquids to be poured onto the heating elements in the sauna. Not only is this an immediate fire risk, but it also causes damage to the unit. Once the unit has been damaged, the Sauna needs to be closed until the heating element can be repaired or replaced - which ruins the experience for everybody. If you see anybody pouring any liquids onto the heating elements, please alert a member of our team immediately.
Listen to Staff Instructions.
We require all patrons of our venue to listen and follow any instructions from our team at all times. Abusive, aggressive and / or violent behavious towards our staff will not be tolerated.
Always shower.
Please make sure that you shower before, after and in between usage of our Steam / Spa / Sauna areas. As part of general hygiene practices, help us to reduce the spread of germs by always washing your hands and body with soap whilst in our venue.
