AVLC Accessible Carpark Upgrade
As we shared in March 2024, these works are planned as part of the Moonee Valley City Council Accessible Parking Review and Strategy Development. The upgrade will ensure all existing disabled bays meet accessible parking bay compliance standards, which stipulates at least 5% of parking supply being accessible parking.
Following project completion, the plan will achieve the following:
- Additional Accessible Parking Bays: We are adding five new accessible parking bays, increasing our capacity to 5% of the total car park, in line with MVCC’s Accessible Parking Review and Strategy Development Plan.
- Upgraded Accessible Parking Bays: Existing accessible parking bays will be upgraded to meet the latest Australian standards, ensuring compliance and ease of use.
- New Bicycle Racks: To support active transport users, we will be installing new bicycle racks, making it easier and more convenient to park bikes.
- Raised Pedestrian Crossing: A new raised pedestrian crossing will be installed, providing a safe and accessible path for pedestrians to cross Pynor Avenue from the Eastern car park.
- New Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (T.G.S.I’s): We will implement new directional and warning tactile ground surface indicators to assist patrons who are blind or vision impaired.
- Improved Road Safety Conditions: Enhanced road safety measures, including new line markings, traffic calming measures, and speed management devices, will be introduced to ensure safer vehicle movements throughout the car park and along Pynor Avenue.
In addition to the car park upgrades, we are pleased to advise that Moonee Valley City Council will also be upgrading the car park lighting. Following community feedback, we’re intend to improve the overall standard of visibility in the surrounding AVLC car parks, to increase patron safety. The car park lighting will be complaint to acceptable public lighting standards.
- Enhancing Car Park Lighting: Following comprehensive lighting assessments, we will install new lighting and upgrade existing fixtures to improve light quality, safety, and security throughout the car park.
